Natalie Montefinese and Josh Marland collaborate on Shell/f Life: Bugs and Books in an Ephemeral Feast, an exhibit at Cloud Croft Studio in Owego. Natalie’s skills using paper from books and Josh’s insect mounting and origami skills created an immersive and whimsical world of books off their shelves and bugs outside of their shells.

For Shell/f Life: Bugs and Books in an Ephemeral Feast Natalie and Josh stretched their skills and meshed their talents.

Natalie cut and folded pages from old and modern books turning two-dimensional paper into three-dimensional sculptural pieces.

Josh has been fascinated by insects and their benefits for over 15 years. In this display he combined mounted and origami insects.

Josh and Natalie’s exhibition was at Cloud Croft Studio which is owned by Rotarian Mike Poe and his wife Suzy.  The Poes make exhibit space available for artists through the Tioga County for the Arts (TAC). TAC’s executive director is Christina De Stefano, also an Owego Rotarian. When Mike and Cristina asked Natalie and Josh to cooperate on an exhibit magic happened and they filled the exhibit space in the barn studio with paper and bugs.
