David Salai's Historic Polio Ride '09
Support Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio in the world. For $10(US) each you can buy one or more of David's bike ride miles and you will receive a ready to frame certificate for each mile. 100% of the proceeds will go to Rotary International's PolioPlus program to eradicate polio in the world.
From July 21, 2009 to August 22, 2009, David Salai rode a 2,300 mile solo cross-country bicycle ride to support the eradication of polio in the world. With help from strangers, new friends, and many kind Rotarians, he was able to complete the journey. He endured nine flats, two replacement tires, six broken spokes, locked-up gears and even a three-hour ride through a 40-degree rainstorm. Even averaging six hours of riding per day, he managed to attend five Rotary meetings along the way. David's heroic and historic ride and his commitment to helping others around the world exemplifies Rotary International's motto of "Service above Self."
