June Birthdays: 4th Jeannette McMullen, 9th Leah Hammond, and Bill Nois 10th Barbara Fink and Priscilla Hoag, 15th Carolyn Galatzan, and Gary Williams, ( three sets of twins) 29th Bob Korba, 30th Rick Bales.

Highlights of May 20, 2004 Board Meeting

April attendance 69%, with 23 with 100% attendance
• Strawberry Festival booth reserved and supplies are being ordered. With the ever so wonderful and outstanding Strawberry shortcake we will also sell SnoCones...
• Board will investigate further the International studies request for $500 at Spencer VanEtten High School.
• Granted a travel leave of absence for Faye Rafferty from May 21 through July 7, while she travels in Europe.
• Motions carried:
• pay annual costs of Little League, Teener League and pay for the Rotary billboard at Raftis Park for total of $675.
• provide a plaque to honor Owego Interacts outstanding Interact member for this year.
• pay up to $100 for a banner or sign to display when working on Centennial projects, saying something like Owego Rotarians at work.
• allow the membership committee to purchase new video, brochures and information stickers fro about $50.
• sponsor five campers at Waterman Center’s summer camp, at $85 each for a total of $425.
• fund the remaining cost of $217.75 for the Bike Tioga brochures printed in conjunction with the tourism office.
• provide funds for a special Youth Services information program lunch, to be held July 20th which will target all local school administrators and guidance personnel.

Ed Kuhlman – Tuesday, June 1, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Beautification 3 locations will be done. Followed by light meal and beverage for a nominal cost ($5.00 est.) Bring trolls and shovel. Fun to be had by ALL!

Sharing time for members what has been going on in our lives for the last month.

• John Spencer - This week going to Corning to work in the women’s LPGA Golf Tournament. He is happy that the merchants were able to purchase property (the burned out area) on Riverow.
• Merlin – Docks for Canoe and Kayaks in Owego. The DEC and Village seem favorable. He thought the cost would be $500. It will be $2,000. Or more. I will need to go to the Board for more money. Family is fine and pool is at 78 degrees life is good.
• Florence – Went to Florida on vacation. Visited the Wall in Maryland. Had a great time riding through Washington on motorcycle
• Wayne - . Very busy working four counties. Busy with children and family. Children in sports and music.
• Jody – Very busy at Cornell working on capital campaign fund raiser. Last year they raised over 1 ½ billion dollars. Hope to raise 2 billion or 3 billion this year. Children are active in the military at this time.
• Jeannette – Building a room on our Candominium (this is what Ed calls it) at the St. Lawrence River. My Mother is going to spend sometime with us this year at the St. Lawrence River so we are adding on a room. However, we are going to do this ourselves this will be very interesting for we have never done this before. I will take next week off to work on it. We do have the floor done and a roof on it. With all sides open it is very breezy at this time.
• Orv- Working temporary at Lockheed Martin. They are looking into building 132 helicopters and he is working on this project. Carolyn’s Mother has fallen twice recently she is now recovering. They have purchased the home next door maybe her parents may come to live next door. Last week Ovr’s oldest son received his PHD from University of Maryland.
• Judy – Has visited Washington with other people who index books for a living. Annual conference for Indexing. Two hundred indexers were there. Some of the meetings that I go to are disorganized from my perspective. I trust that this is not true of Judy’s meetings. Her son is going to tour Europe this summer with a Band on a bus. He will leave Wednesday.
• Priscilla – Rotary good for her family her and her husband enjoy the Club. MaryKay business is good. She has had to turn the temp down in the Hot Tub.

  Priscilla and her husband for 7 years have been foster parents for children at the Glove House.

• Ron – Life not real interesting at this time. He shares his home with the cat. Ron has two wonderful daughters.
• Ed – Gina teaching, daughter teaching middle school (putting up with one of our children). Three grandsons one grandson on Newark Valley Golf Team. He does a lot better than Grampa.
• Laura – Five years in Owego at the Treadway. Youth exchange program is the greatest to work on. One son has just received in college a 4.0.
• Dates: Priscilla and her husband were married on her birthday. Jodi and her husband got married on the date that is one week later then her 1st wedding anniversary. Orv‘s birthday is the same day as Carolyn’s first husband’s birthday. John got married on Memorial Day thought he could remember the day easier. Then they started to change the day.
